Methodology summary

1. Index inclusion process

A commodity will be considered fit for inclusion if it plays a significant role currently in Chinese consumption or is expected to do so in the near future based on growing consumption data.

Data from private and governmental sources concerning Chinese consumption of commodities is actively monitored and thoroughly analysed by the members of the Macquarie and Rogers™ China Agriculture Index Committee (the "MR Index Committee").

2. Contract inclusion process

Index commodity futures should epitomize tradability, liquidity and quality choice. The MR Index Committee screens the volume and liquidity data of the international exchanges to determine whether a specific commodity is tradeable. Beyond liquidity, the MR Index Committee generally aims to include the contract representing the highest quality grade of a specific commodity.

3. Calculation of the Index constituent weightings

The Index constituent weightings are calculated annually in March.

Once the basket of underlying commodities is identified, the weights are determined based on their relative consumption. The weights are then adjusted for liquidity constraints to ensure the Index is investable. The MR Index Committee reviews the composition and weightings periodically to ensure the Index achieves its stated objective and will take into consideration regulatory index eligibility requirements.
